This is an independent contractor role supporting Genius projects in Amsterdam. The engagement runs for 3 months, from September 11, 2026, through December 10, 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a small team of Project Managers in Amsterdam, where applicable, according to Booking.com's leadership principles.
  • Apply structured methodologies and lead project and change management activities.
  • Own successful delivery throughout the end-to-end project lifecycle.
  • Independently lead low- and medium-complexity projects with global, cross-functional impact through execution, analysis, recommendation, and implementation.
  • Apply change management processes and tools to create strategies supporting adoption of project or initiative changes.
  • Engage and influence stakeholders at all organizational levels, including Director level and, where required, external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with business unit partners and corporate support teams to execute enterprise strategy and support segment or functional strategy projects.
  • Communicate project insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Identify, define, and scope opportunities with limited supervision.
  • Support project scoping and planning by documenting project goals, KPIs, roadmaps, and key deliverables.
  • Track and report progress, and create clear planning documents with involved departments.
  • Ensure project closure and a correct handover to business-as-usual operations.
  • Build and maintain Confluence and Jira spaces as reliable sources of truth.
  • Track milestones, actions, dependencies, risks, and decisions.
  • Prepare agendas, materials, and follow-ups for program forums.
  • Coordinate owners and challenge overdue actions.
  • Maintain integrated plans and go-to-market readiness checks.
  • Reconcile status across workstreams and highlight gaps, dependencies, or inconsistencies.
  • Support planning workshops, capture decisions, and ensure follow-through.
  • Prepare concise status updates and escalation materials for program leadership.
  • Support the preparation of communication materials for varying audiences.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of relevant project or program management experience, with a track record of delivering complex, cross-functional initiatives end to end.
  • Solid familiarity with project and change management approaches, tools, and project lifecycle phases.
  • Ability to lead multiple low- or medium-complexity projects or portfolios of projects.
  • Strong understanding of how people progress through the change curve and change process.
  • Experience establishing governance, delivery frameworks, reporting mechanisms, and structured ways of working.
  • Experience with go-to-market planning, transformation programs, or large-scale cross-functional delivery.
  • Hands-on experience with Jira, Confluence, RAID management, integrated planning, and decision tracking.
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with team members and wider stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively with and influence stakeholders up to Director level.
  • Effective communication skills in small and medium-sized groups, with strong influencing skills in one-to-one and small-group settings.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, including the ability to work in ambiguous situations and under pressure.
  • Strong organizational skills and a natural inclination for strategic and tactical planning.
  • Ability to use quantitative and qualitative data to drive decision-making with limited supervision.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to contribute to a long-term vision.
  • Strong problem-solving and root-cause identification skills.
  • Basic business acumen and understanding of organizational issues and challenges.
  • Experience with large-scale organizational change efforts is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of similar industries and/or business projects is advantageous.
  • PMP, Agile Project Management, or equivalent certification is preferred.
