Details

The Host Pricing & Availability team builds platforms and tools that help Airbnb hosts manage their businesses, including competitive pricing, market intelligence, comparable listing data, demand signals, and calendar management. The team partners with Search, Listings, Tax, and Payments to ensure accuracy and consistency across pricing systems.

As a Staff Engineer, you will drive the technical strategy and delivery of Airbnb's pricing product roadmap. You will collaborate with Product, Design, and Data Science to architect scalable solutions with clear domain boundaries while improving the performance, efficiency, and impact of the end-to-end architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and lead the technical strategy for pricing and availability backend systems.
  • Ensure APIs, services, and data pipelines are robust and evolve alongside business needs.
  • Lead the development and optimization of core pricing and availability products.
  • Collaborate with product engineers and cross-functional partners to develop host pricing functionality and calendar management tools.
  • Contribute to the long-term backend system architecture within the Host Pricing organization.
  • Establish architectural standards and mentor senior engineers to improve the organization's technical maturity.

Requirements

  • 9+ years of engineering experience and a BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a similar field.
  • Proven experience leading teams, setting technical strategy, and launching high-impact product features.
  • Expertise in backend systems and large-scale service-oriented architectures.
  • Experience influencing cross-functional partners and engineering teams.
  • Strong judgment when balancing short-term business needs with long-term technical quality.
  • Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and production debugging abilities.

Work Location

This position is remote eligible in the United States. You must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with your manager.

Compensation

The base pay range is $212,000–$265,000 USD per year. Actual base pay depends on factors including training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands.
