Grafana Labs is seeking a Staff Field Engineer to support strategic customer engagements and complex technical sales cycles in Germany. The role partners with Solution Engineers, Observability Architects, Product, Marketing, and Engineering to develop technical enablement, reference architectures, demonstrations, workshops, and production infrastructure for the Grafana Platform.

Responsibilities

Advise on and support strategic deals and customer engagements, collaborating with Solution Engineers and Observability Architects on complex technical challenges.
Serve as a company-recognized subject matter expert in one area of the Grafana Platform, with deep knowledge across multiple observability technologies.
Build reference architectures and address competitive objections in the field.
Craft and deliver value-based technical stories that help sales teams close deals.
Create and curate technical training content, including workshops, how-to guides, and demo scripts.
Establish a repeatable content review cadence with Enablement and Product Management.
Architect, engineer, and maintain live production environments for demos, workshops, and proof-of-value infrastructure, ensuring reliability, security, and uptime.
Influence product direction, support customer adoption of newer technologies, and represent Field Engineering in product planning cycles.
Present at strategic marketing events, including presentations, panels, webinars, conferences, and blogs.
Provide technical guidance and best practices to Solution Engineers, Observability Architects, and customers.
Improve product documentation and contribute white papers, blog posts, and product direction input.
Mentor Senior and Staff Solution Engineers and Field Engineers.

Requirements

At least 8 years of related technical experience, including 2 or more years as a Senior Field Engineer or equivalent, such as an SRE, developer, architect, or successful presales Solution Architect.
Excellent understanding of Grafana and related technologies, with subject matter expertise in at least one area of the Grafana Platform.
Deep working knowledge of observability technologies such as Grafana, Loki, Prometheus, Tempo, Elastic, Splunk, and Datadog.
Expert-level knowledge in at least one adjacent domain, such as IoT or AI/ML, and broader knowledge of the Grafana ecosystem.
Experience creating and maintaining product training assets adopted by a broader technical field organization.
Experience partnering with Product Management and Engineering to create field enablement content and influence roadmap priorities.
Comfort with at least one modern programming language and a strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, including debugging and investigation.
Working familiarity with Linux and common Linux tools.
Practical experience using AI tools to generate and review code and accelerate day-to-day tasks while retaining ownership of final decisions and quality.
Ability to architect modern applications on AWS, Azure, or GCP, including infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
Understanding of build-versus-buy tradeoffs and technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, serverless architectures, and microservices.
Proven experience building and delivering strategic technical content, including workshops, demos, presentations, webinars, and videos for technical audiences.
Deep understanding of the sales process and the ability to anticipate and address challenges in complex strategic sales cycles.
Open-source development experience is a plus.

Compensation

The Germany OTE compensation range is EUR 137,000–164,000 per year. Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset. The role includes Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
