Grafana Labs is hiring a Staff Field Engineer to support strategic customer engagements and presales activities in the Netherlands. The role focuses on Grafana's observability platform, technical enablement, production demo infrastructure, customer adoption, and mentoring field and solution engineering teams.

Responsibilities

Advise on and support strategic deals and customer engagements, collaborating with Solution Engineers and Observability Architects on complex technical challenges.
Serve as a company-recognized subject matter expert in one area of the Grafana Platform, with deep knowledge across multiple Grafana technologies.
Build reference architectures and overcome competitive objections in the field.
Craft and deliver compelling, value-based technical stories to help sales teams close deals.
Create and curate technical training content, including workshops, how-to guides, and demo scripts.
Establish a repeatable content review cadence with Enablement and Product Management.
Architect, engineer, and maintain live production environments supporting demos, workshops, and proof-of-value infrastructure at scale, with a focus on reliability, security, and uptime.
Influence product direction, support customer adoption of newer technologies, and represent Field Engineering in product planning cycles.
Present at strategic marketing events, including presentations, panels, webinars, conferences, and blogs.
Provide technical guidance and best practices to Solution Engineers, Observability Architects, and customers.
Improve product documentation and contribute white papers, blogs, and product direction input.
Mentor Senior and Staff Solution Engineers and Field Engineers.

Requirements

At least 8 years of related technical experience, including 2 or more years as a Senior Field Engineer or equivalent, such as an SRE, developer, architect, or successful presales Solution Architect. OSS development experience is a plus.
Excellent understanding of Grafana and related technologies, with subject matter expertise in at least one area of the Grafana Platform.
Deep working knowledge of observability technologies such as Grafana, Loki, Prometheus, Tempo, Elastic, Splunk, and Datadog.
Expert-level knowledge in at least one adjacent domain, such as IoT or AI/ML, and broader knowledge of the Grafana ecosystem.
Experience creating and maintaining product training assets adopted by a broader technical field organization.
Experience partnering with Product Management and Engineering to create field enablement content and influence roadmap priorities.
Comfortable with at least one modern programming language and knowledgeable about the software development lifecycle, debugging, and investigation.
Working familiarity with Linux and common Linux tools.
Practical experience using AI tools to generate and review code and accelerate day-to-day work while retaining ownership of final decisions and quality.
Ability to architect modern applications on AWS, Azure, or GCP, including infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
Understanding of build-versus-buy tradeoffs and technologies including Kubernetes, Docker, serverless architectures, and microservices.
Proven experience creating and delivering strategic technical content, including workshops, demos, presentations, webinars, videos, and complex proof-of-value engagements.
Deep understanding of the sales process and the ability to anticipate and address challenges in complex strategic sales cycles.
