Grafana Labs is seeking a Staff Field Engineer to support strategic technical engagements across the United Kingdom. The Field Engineering team works closely with Presales Solution Engineering, Product, and Marketing to provide technical expertise, enablement, content, and infrastructure that help Solution Engineers support complex customer engagements.

Responsibilities

Advise on and support strategic deals and customer engagements, collaborating with Solution Engineers and Observability Architects on complex technical challenges.
Serve as a recognized Subject Matter Expert in one area of the Grafana Platform, with deep knowledge across multiple Grafana technologies.
Build reference architectures, overcome competitive objections, and create compelling value-based technical stories to support sales engagements.
Create and curate technical training content, including workshops, how-to guides, and demo scripts, while establishing a repeatable content review cadence with Enablement and Product Management.
Architect, engineer, and maintain live production environments supporting demos, workshops, and proof-of-value infrastructure at scale, with a focus on reliability, security, and uptime.
Influence product direction, help customers adopt newer technologies, represent Field Engineering in product planning, and identify enablement gaps and investment priorities.
Present at strategic marketing events, including presentations, panels, webinars, conferences, and blogs.
Provide technical guidance and best practices to Solution Engineers, Observability Architects, and customers.
Improve product documentation and contribute white papers, blogs, and product direction input.
Mentor Senior and Staff Solution Engineers and Field Engineers.

Requirements

At least 8 years of related technical experience, including 2 or more years as a Senior Field Engineer or equivalent experience as an SRE, developer, architect, or successful presales Solution Architect.
Excellent understanding of Grafana and associated technologies, with Subject Matter Expert depth in at least one area of the Grafana Platform.
Deep working knowledge of observability technologies such as Grafana, Loki, Prometheus, Tempo, Elastic, Splunk, and Datadog.
Expert-level knowledge in at least one adjacent domain, such as IoT or AI/ML, and broader knowledge of the Grafana ecosystem.
Experience creating and maintaining product training assets adopted by a broader technical field organization.
Experience partnering with Product Management and Engineering to create field-facing enablement content and influence roadmap priorities.
Familiarity with at least one modern programming language and a strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, including debugging and investigation.
Working familiarity with Linux and common Linux tools.
Practical experience using AI tools to generate and review code and accelerate day-to-day work while retaining ownership of final decisions and quality.
Ability to architect modern applications on AWS, Azure, or GCP, including infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
Understanding of build-versus-buy tradeoffs and technologies including Kubernetes, Docker, serverless architectures, and microservices.
Proven experience building and delivering strategic technical content such as workshops, demos, presentations, webinars, and videos for technical audiences.
Deep understanding of the sales process and the ability to anticipate and address challenges in complex strategic sales cycles.
Open source development experience is a plus.

Compensation

The UK on-target earnings compensation range is £130,000–£155,000 per year. Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset. The role includes Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
