Grafana Labs is a remote company behind Grafana Cloud, a managed observability platform built on open source and open standards. The Field Engineering team supports Presales Solution Engineering, Product, and Marketing by providing technical expertise, enablement, content, and demo infrastructure for strategic customer engagements.

Responsibilities

Advise on and support strategic deals and customer engagements, collaborating with Solution Engineers and Observability Architects on complex technical challenges.
Serve as a company-recognized subject matter expert in at least one area of the Grafana Platform and maintain deep knowledge across multiple Grafana technologies.
Build reference architectures from scratch and overcome competitive objections in the field.
Craft and deliver compelling value-based stories to help the sales team technically close deals.
Create and curate technical training content, including workshops, how-to guides, and demo scripts, and establish a repeatable content review cadence with Enablement and Product Management.
Architect, engineer, and maintain live production environments for demos, workshops, and proof-of-value infrastructure at scale, ensuring reliability, security, and uptime.
Influence product direction, help customers adopt newer technologies, and represent Field Engineering in product planning cycles.
Present at strategic marketing events, including presentations, panels, webinars, conferences, and blogs.
Provide technical guidance and best practices to Solution Engineers, Observability Architects, and customers.
Improve product documentation and contribute white papers, blog posts, and product direction input.
Mentor Senior and Staff Solution Engineers and Field Engineers.

Requirements

At least 8 years of related technical experience, including 2 or more years in a Senior Field Engineer role or equivalent experience as an SRE, developer, architect, or successful presales Solution Architect. OSS development experience is a plus.
Excellent understanding of Grafana and associated technologies, with subject matter expertise in at least one area of the Grafana Platform.
Deep working knowledge of observability technologies such as Grafana, Loki, Prometheus, Tempo, Elastic, Splunk, and Datadog.
Expert-level knowledge in at least one adjacent domain, such as IoT or AI/ML, and broader knowledge of the Grafana ecosystem.
Experience creating and maintaining product training assets adopted by a broader technical field organization.
Experience partnering with Product Management and Engineering to create field-facing enablement content and influence roadmap priorities.
Comfort with at least one modern programming language and a strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, including debugging and investigation.
Working familiarity with Linux and common Linux tools.
Practical experience using AI tools to generate and review code and accelerate day-to-day work while retaining ownership of final decisions and quality.
Ability to architect modern applications on AWS, Azure, or GCP, including infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
Understanding of build-versus-buy tradeoffs and technologies including Kubernetes, Docker, serverless, and microservices.
Proven experience building and delivering strategic technical content, including workshops, demos, presentations, webinars, videos, complex proof-of-value engagements, and content addressing competitive objections.
Deep understanding of the sales process and the ability to anticipate and address challenges in complex strategic sales cycles.

Compensation

In Sweden, the on-target earnings compensation range is SEK 1,098,000–1,320,000 per year. Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset. The role includes Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
