Details

Booking.com is seeking a Technical Product Manager to join the Genius Platform team in Amsterdam as an independent contractor for a four-month engagement from August 27, 2026, through December 31, 2026.

The Genius loyalty program helps Booking.com reward travellers and build lasting relationships. The Genius Platform team builds shared technology foundations, services, and decisioning capabilities that support Genius experiences across Booking.com.

This individual contributor role is responsible for the strategy, roadmap, and business outcomes of a product area within the Genius Platform. The role involves translating traveller, business, and internal product-team needs into reusable technical capabilities covering program enrollment, eligibility, benefit entitlements, redemption orchestration, decisioning, data, and reporting. The Technical Product Manager will lead through influence and balance strategic product direction with detailed technical trade-offs.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product strategy, roadmap, outcomes, and success metrics for the platform area.
  • Connect technical investments to traveller, business, and customer-facing team outcomes.
  • Understand the needs of travellers, the Genius program, and internal product teams, and turn common needs into scalable platform capabilities.
  • Define product requirements and platform contracts covering domain models, APIs, rules and configuration, workflows, events, data, and non-functional requirements.
  • Prioritize problems across customer value, platform leverage, technical complexity, delivery dependencies, privacy, governance, and operational risk.
  • Partner with engineering managers and technical leads to shape solutions, make trade-offs, and sequence work across dependent systems and teams.
  • Establish capabilities for enrollment and eligibility, benefit configuration, entitlement realization, and redemption orchestration.
  • Improve the internal product experience through clear interfaces, documentation, onboarding, observability, support models, and migration paths.
  • Drive adoption with customer-facing Genius teams and iterate using qualitative and quantitative feedback, integration outcomes, operational performance, and customer impact.
  • Define and monitor metrics including platform adoption, integration lead time, reuse, reliability, decision quality, operational effort, and contribution to program outcomes.
  • Design privacy, security, compliance, resilience, auditability, and responsible traveller-data use into the platform.
  • Communicate product direction, progress, risks, dependencies, and decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior leadership.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in technical product management or a related technical domain.
  • Experience owning a technical platform, backend product, shared service, or complex domain capability used by multiple product teams.
  • Strong technical fluency across APIs, service-oriented and event-driven architectures, distributed systems, data contracts, orchestration, automation, observability, and non-functional requirements.
  • Strong product judgment when deciding what to standardize, what to make configurable, and where teams need flexibility.
  • Experience translating ambiguous traveller and business problems into domain models, product requirements, milestones, and measurable outcomes.
  • Ability to collaborate deeply with engineering and engage in discussions about architecture, interfaces, failure modes, scalability, latency, reliability, and technical debt.
  • Proven ability to drive adoption of shared capabilities and influence without authority in a complex, cross-functional environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with engineering, product, design, data, legal, privacy, business, and leadership audiences.
  • Customer-centric, systems-oriented thinking and the ability to connect platform decisions to end-to-end traveller experiences.
  • Experience with loyalty, rewards, promotions, marketplaces, payments, or other rules-heavy domains is a plus.
