Backend Engineer, Developer SDKs (Golang)

Details

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform used by millions of businesses. The Developer SDKs team owns open-source SDKs for seven programming languages, an in-house code generation framework, documentation code snippets, and commands in Stripe Shell.

The team focuses on providing a world-class developer experience, influencing API authoring and releases, and collaborating with the broader Stripe community.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Golang expert on the team, representing the needs of the Golang community and ensuring idiomatic experiences.
• Use Node.js expertise to improve the code generation framework and work toward open-sourcing it for third-party Stripe SDK owners.
• Collaborate with Stripe teams to release APIs in the SDKs and improve release-process efficiency.
• Help streamline the API authoring process at Stripe.
• Support users reaching out through the open-source GitHub repositories for the SDKs.
• Add support for new language features in the SDKs.
• Help lead the API design process by guiding product teams in creating powerful and intuitive abstractions surfaced through the SDKs.
• Collaborate with, mentor, and support other team members.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

• 6+ years of engineering experience across a wide range of products.
• 3+ years of experience as a Golang software engineer.
• Interest in working with multiple programming languages.
• Passion for API design and developer experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with PHP and Ruby.
• Experience building libraries and/or SDKs.
• Knowledge of the OpenAPI specification and Protocol Buffers (protobuf).
