Details

Our team brings OpenAI's developer platform technology to developers worldwide through the OpenAI API. The platform supports model calls and stateful, multimodal, tool-using applications through the Responses API, Agents SDK, Realtime API, and more. Our SDKs provide reliable, idiomatic developer experiences across multiple programming languages.

The SDKs are currently offered in Python, Node.js, Golang, Java, and Ruby. You will help shape the developer experience for new API features and future API versions.

Responsibilities

Define and implement the SDK experience for all new API features and future API versions.
Build and maintain systems that streamline and automate SDK maintenance and generation.
Contribute to the SDK strategy and roadmap, including supported languages and features.
Collaborate with the API team, Developer Experience team, and go-to-market team to improve the SDKs.
Work directly with developers to add features, fix issues, and contribute to documentation.

Requirements

7+ years of professional engineering experience, excluding internships, in relevant roles at technology and product-driven companies.
Interest in building products for developers and incorporating feedback from opinionated users.
Experience working in open-source communities and engaging directly with developers.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with ambiguous requirements and goals.
Willingness to contribute to product decisions in addition to engineering work.
Previous experience maintaining SDKs or building SDK generation software is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary: $293,000–$385,000 USD per year.
