As Chapter Lead TypeScript/Angular, you are responsible for the frontend engineering capability, combining people leadership, technical excellence, and standardisation of ways of working. You will lead a chapter of highly skilled engineers, act as a thought leader in Angular and TypeScript, and remain hands-on in engineering work. The role is approximately 70% engineering and delivery and 30% coaching, people management, and chapter leadership.
Responsibilities
People Management and Chapter Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop a chapter of 4–15 internal and external engineers.
- Drive performance management, growth conversations, and career development.
- Build an engineering culture focused on craftsmanship, ownership, and continuous learning.
- Mentor and coach engineers in both soft and hard skills.
- Support employee engagement, retention, and professional development.
Technical Leadership
- Act as a thought leader in Angular and TypeScript, setting direction and standards.
- Define and enforce frontend architecture, design principles, and coding standards.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and secure frontend applications.
- Guide teams in modern frontend engineering practices, including testing, CI/CD, performance, and accessibility.
- Contribute hands-on to complex technical implementations.
- Provide expert-level guidance on Angular, TypeScript, frontend architecture, design systems, and usability.
Ways of Working and Standards
- Define and implement best practices, frameworks, and development standards across the chapter.
- Establish knowledge-sharing structures, communities of practice, and guilds.
- Ensure alignment with global engineering standards and compliance requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement in engineering maturity and developer experience.
Workforce Planning and Talent Strategy
- Perform strategic workforce planning with the Chapter Area Lead.
- Identify skill gaps and define training and upskilling initiatives.
- Contribute to recruitment through interviews, selection criteria, and hiring decisions.
- Balance capacity, skills, and demand across squads and initiatives.
Collaboration
- Work closely with Product Owners, Architects, and other Chapter Leads.
- Contribute as an active engineer in delivery squads.
- Ensure that technical and non-functional requirements are embedded in delivery.
- Facilitate alignment across global teams and regions.
Requirements
Technical Expertise
- Expert-level experience with Angular and TypeScript in enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of frontend architecture, APIs, and DevOps practices.
