Details

Reddit is looking for a Principal Technical Program Manager, Developer Productivity to lead company-wide programs for AI-assisted engineering workflows. The role partners with engineering leaders across infrastructure, developer productivity, security, product engineering, ads, machine learning, and senior technical leadership to make AI-native development safe, measurable, scalable, and effective across Reddit.

The role will help Reddit establish effective agentic development practices for planning, writing, reviewing, testing, and shipping code. It will support experimentation while protecting quality, managing operational risk and cost, and measuring whether AI improves delivered value. The position also focuses on building trust in new workflows and driving organizational change across engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Lead programs across Reddit's Developer Productivity and AI portfolio, including agent infrastructure, AI-assisted code review, developer environments, LLM governance, developer tooling, AI workflow measurement, and software delivery automation.
  • Translate strategy into executable programs covering code review, agent infrastructure, self-service LLM access, evaluation and observability systems, development environments, and safe agent workflows across the software development lifecycle.
  • Define and drive the operating model for AI-native developer productivity, including paved-path adoption, guardrails, success measurement, and risk escalation and resolution.
  • Create alignment across infrastructure, developer experience, reliability, security, compliance, product engineering, machine learning, and executive stakeholders.
  • Drive company-wide cultural change for AI-assisted development by building trust, addressing skepticism, creating feedback loops, and supporting durable adoption.
  • Develop communication and enablement mechanisms, including leadership forums, working groups, training, documentation, rollout plans, and narratives connecting workflow changes to business and engineering outcomes.
  • Build measurement systems that distinguish real productivity from vanity metrics. Relevant metrics include design-to-test time, test-to-launch time, review turnaround, change failure rate, time to restore service, AI-authored code quality, AI-assisted pull request load, migration throughput, and developer satisfaction.
  • Drive AI governance and adoption while addressing security, cost management, privacy, compliance, and operational safety.
  • Use technical judgment to challenge assumptions, identify systemic risks, and guide tradeoffs across AI tooling, CI/CD, code review, deployment automation, developer environments, and production reliability.

Requirements

  • 14+ years of experience across technical program management, engineering, infrastructure, developer tools, platform engineering, AI tooling, or related technical domains.
  • Experience leading multi-year, multi-organization technical programs with executive visibility and ambiguous ownership.
  • Deep fluency in developer productivity systems, including CI/CD, code review, testing, deployment, observability, developer environments, internal platforms, or AI-assisted development workflows.
  • Understanding of AI- and LLM-enabled software development, including agent workflows, governance, evaluations, telemetry, code quality, review burden, cost controls, and operational risk.
  • Ability to build measurement systems that connect workflow improvements to business and engineering outcomes.
  • Exceptional cross-functional communication and operating skills, with the ability to influence without authority and communicate with engineers, managers, executives, and cross-functional partners.
  • Experience leading organizational change and shifting behavior across engineering teams.
  • Pragmatic, iterative approach to introducing structure and encouraging adoption through value.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading developer productivity, platform engineering, infrastructure modernization, or AI tooling programs at large scale.
  • Experience with LLM platforms, AI-assisted development tools, agentic workflows, or AI governance in an enterprise engineering environment.
  • Experience building adoption strategies for internal platforms or developer tools where success depends on trust, usability, and measurable value.
  • Experience leading cultural transformation, change management, or broad adoption programs across engineering organizations.
  • Familiarity with DORA, SPACE, or similar multidimensional engineering productivity frameworks.
  • Experience working in fast-moving environments where technical strategy, organizational design, and execution mechanisms evolve simultaneously.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive healthcare benefits and income replacement programs.
  • 401(k) with employer match.
  • Global benefits supporting workspace, professional development, and caregiving.
  • Family planning support.
  • Gender-affirming care.
  • Mental health and coaching benefits.
  • Flexible vacation and paid volunteer time off.
  • Generous paid parental leave.
  • Eligibility for equity in the form of restricted stock units and, depending on the position offered, possible commission eligibility.
