ING Bank Italy is looking for a Quantitative Market Risk Intern to join the Market Risk department in Milan. The internship provides an opportunity to apply quantitative methods to market risk, pricing, and behavioural modelling challenges in an international banking environment.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, measure, analyse, and report market risk and liquidity risk indicators and limits to support risk oversight of the bank's balance sheet.
  • Gather data and perform calculations and analytical pre-work for pricing, valuation, and behavioural analysis of balance-sheet products.
  • Contribute to integrated market and liquidity risk assessments.
  • Design and build an advanced forecasting model of customer behaviour under different product characteristics and market scenarios.
  • Apply quantitative techniques to real business problems with guidance from senior team members.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Econometrics, Mathematics, Quantitative Finance, Physics, or a related quantitative discipline, either completed or close to completion.
  • Basic understanding of financial mathematics and financial markets, including bank balance sheets, market risk, and liquidity risk concepts.
  • Good programming skills in Python.
  • Experience with data analysis and modelling is a strong advantage.
  • Ability to work with data using Excel.
  • Knowledge of SAS, VBA, or similar tools is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with working proficiency.
