Senior Network Security Engineer

We're looking for a Senior Network Security Engineer who will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining global network and security infrastructure. You will ensure secure and efficient data flows across a complex, multi-region environment and work closely with internal teams, external partners, and the CISO organization to continuously improve network security posture. The role combines hands-on engineering with contributions to policies, procedures, governance and audit activities.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain secure and highly available network infrastructure.
• Lead network and security-related projects and technical improvements.
• Drive network security, resilience, and operational excellence across the environment.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, the CISO organization, and external service providers.
• Contribute to audits, risk management, governance, and regulatory compliance activities.
• Act as a senior technical expert within the team, mentoring colleagues and helping to define the network roadmap.

Working environment

ABN AMRO Clearing is a global clearing and financial infrastructure provider supporting trading firms, financial institutions and corporates across multiple asset classes and markets. The environment is complex, fast-paced and critical to continuity of global financial markets. You will be part of a highly skilled international team operating across Europe, the US and APAC. The team works closely with a data center outsourcing partner and stakeholders across IT, security and business domains. You are expected to work onsite in Amsterdam approximately three days per week; working from home is possible in consultation with your team and depending on your role.

Requirements

• 7+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise networking and network security, preferably in a regulated or financial-services environment.
• Strong experience with Cisco networking technologies, including routing, switching, and core network protocols (e.g., BGP and OSPF).
• Proven experience with network security technologies, including firewalls, VPNs, and IDS/IPS solutions.
• Experience designing and supporting secure, highly available data center and enterprise network environments.
• Strong understanding of security-by-design principles and secure network architecture.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• A process-oriented approach and a passion for the field of expertise.

• Gross monthly salary range: € 6.793 - € 9.704 per month (based on a 36-hour work week; in this role a 40-hour work week is expected).
