Details

GitLab is seeking a Senior Program Manager within its Enterprise Technology & AI organization to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex, cross-functional technology programs. The role requires technical fluency, business acumen, the ability to navigate ambiguity, align diverse stakeholders, and drive decisions across teams.

The position operates across Technology, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Legal, Product, and Business Operations. The successful candidate will bring structure and clarity to programs spanning multiple domains, improve governance and operational processes, surface risks, and keep stakeholders informed. GitLab operates as a remote, globally distributed, async-first organization and expects team members to incorporate AI into their daily workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end program management for large, high-visibility Enterprise Technology, AI, and Data initiatives, including scope definition, roadmap development, dependency management, resource planning, execution tracking, and change management.
  • Lead enterprise applications and operational transformation programs that improve business processes, increase scalability, and reduce friction for internal teams.
  • Partner with business and technical stakeholders to clarify goals, define success metrics, evaluate trade-offs, and translate strategy into actionable plans.
  • Drive operating rhythms across programs, including status reporting, RAID management, milestone reviews, and executive-ready communications.
  • Identify program risks, gaps, and blockers early; recommend practical options and drive timely decisions with stakeholders and senior leaders.
  • Improve program delivery consistency and effectiveness by strengthening governance, documentation, planning practices, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Support the adoption of AI-enabled workflows and automation opportunities that improve productivity across enterprise systems and operations.
  • Contribute to a high-trust, async-first culture through clear communication and effective remote collaboration.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of program management experience, with a strong track record delivering cross-functional Enterprise Technology, AI, and Data programs.
  • Ability to simplify complex processes and create structured approaches to ambiguous problems.
  • Experience influencing without authority, earning the trust of senior stakeholders, and driving alignment across Finance, Legal, Sales, Product, and other functions.
  • Ability to operate strategically while also managing detailed program execution.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting program status, risks, and recommendations to leadership and executive audiences.
  • Familiarity with enterprise technology domains such as business systems, data, AI, security, infrastructure, or enterprise architecture; depth in one or more areas is preferred.
  • Experience running or actively participating in an Architecture Review Board, technical governance forum, or similar design and decision review process is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with program and project management tools and methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, or SAFe. PMP, CSM, or an equivalent certification is a plus.
  • Experience working in a remote, globally distributed environment with a bias toward asynchronous collaboration and clear documentation.

Benefits

  • Benefits supporting health, finances, and well-being.
  • Flexible paid time off.
  • Team Member Resource Groups.
  • Equity Compensation and Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
  • Growth and Development Fund.
  • Parental Leave.
