Senior Software Engineer

Details

Confluent is building a cloud-native platform as a service based on Apache Kafka, enabling customers around the globe to deliver streaming applications. The Confluent Cloud Infrastructure team develops the cloud foundations used by the wider engineering organization.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain Golang infrastructure services, typically implemented as Kubernetes operators, to deliver Confluent Cloud foundations.
• Work alongside Confluent engineers to build the Confluent Cloud PaaS product.
• Take responsibility for the availability, performance, monitoring, emergency response, and capacity planning of the Confluent Cloud.
• Help architect and operationally design large-scale, secure, and reliable systems running across tens of thousands of instances.
• Use Terraform, Datadog, Prometheus, Linux, public cloud platforms, and networking technologies, with Golang software engineering as the primary focus.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 4+ years of relevant cloud infrastructure or cloud networking experience.
• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems design and development.
• Experience building and operating large-scale systems.
• Solid understanding of systems operations, including disks, networks, and operating systems.
• Ability to work effectively in teams and operate as a self-starter.
• Proficiency in Go, Python, C++, or another statically typed language.
• Experience with public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Golang.
• Experience using Apache Kafka.
