Senior Software Engineer II, Kora Compute

Details

Confluent is building a data streaming platform that moves information in near real time. The Kora team develops a managed service for customers requiring high availability, performance, security, scalability, and low cost of ownership. This role focuses on building Kora's highly available, reliable, secure, scalable, and multi-tenant compute layer while driving technical solutions from design through implementation.

Responsibilities

• Deliver complex projects in production with a strong focus on quality.
• Solve challenging customer problems and improve customer success.
• Collaborate effectively with the team and make decisions that benefit the team and company.
• Identify root causes, investigate deeply, and solve complex distributed systems and infrastructure problems.
• Design, architect, and develop solutions for Kora's compute layer.
• Build and operate highly available, reliable, secure, scalable, and multi-tenant cloud systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 4+ years of relevant cloud infrastructure or cloud networking experience.
• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems design and development.
• Experience building and operating large-scale cloud systems.
• Solid understanding of systems operations, including disks, networks, and operating systems.
• Self-starter who can work effectively in teams.
• Proficiency in Java, Scala, C, C++, Go, or another statically typed language.

Preferred Qualifications

• In-depth familiarity with the JVM.
• Strong background in distributed storage systems or databases.
• Experience with resource management and quality of service.
• Experience with or knowledge of public clouds, including AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience working with databases or data storage.
• Interest in technical evangelism, such as presenting at technology conferences or writing blog posts about Kafka.
