Details

Airbnb's Communication and Connectivity team builds tools used by millions of guests and hosts, including messaging, push notifications, operating system integrations, host connectivity solutions, and a platform for third-party partner integrations. The team includes web, native, backend, data, and machine learning engineers. This role focuses on backend architecture and the application of artificial intelligence technologies.

Responsibilities

Partner closely with senior leaders across the broader technical organization.
Remain hands-on and contribute code as a senior technical individual contributor.
Work with cross-functional teams, including design, product marketing, and prototyping, to create delightful and extensible guest-host communication experiences.
Envision and build a scalable foundation for reaching hosts through notifications.
Explore ways to improve the partner integration platform using advanced artificial intelligence technology.
Understand how technical decisions drive business outcomes.
Deliver frameworks and platforms that improve delivery quality and business outcomes.
Perform design and code reviews.
Advise and mentor other engineers.

Requirements

12+ years of relevant experience in a fast-paced, high-growth technology environment.
Bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in Computer Science or a related field.
Experience building, leading, and architecting full-stack products and systems at enterprise scale with significant impact.
Experience applying modern artificial intelligence technologies to products and development cycles.
Hands-on technical leadership experience, including leading project teams, setting technical direction and strategy, and working cross-functionally with Product and Data Science teams.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, including experience working across teams and organizations on technical initiatives.

Location

This position is eligible for remote work in the United States. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with the manager. Employees must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity.
