Airbnb's Passport & Commerce organization builds the account and commerce foundation supporting identity, profiles, connections, bookings, benefits, and business transactions. The team works closely with Payments and Wallet engineering, Identity & Privacy, Profile & Community, and Guest & Host product, design, and data science partners.

As a Software Engineer on the Android team, you will build account-related Android experiences for millions of guests and hosts. You will own well-scoped features from technical design through launch, collaborating with backend, iOS, web, product, and design partners.

Responsibilities

• Design and build Android features using modern declarative UI and unidirectional state architecture.
• Partner with product and design teams to create polished and accessible Android experiences.
• Collaborate with backend, iOS, and web engineers to maintain consistent feature behavior and data across platforms.
• Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code.
• Participate in code and design reviews.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and contribute to shared Android patterns and best practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mobile application bugs, performance issues, and reliability problems.
• Deliver reliable, performant, and polished Android experiences while expanding ownership as the team's Android presence grows.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional Android engineering experience, including shipping features in a large-scale production consumer application.
• Proficiency in Kotlin and modern Android architecture.
• Experience with declarative UI, such as Jetpack Compose.
• Experience with unidirectional state management, including MVI or MVVM.
• Experience with dependency injection.
• Experience working with backend and other platform engineers to integrate APIs and maintain cross-platform consistency.
• Track record of delivering features from technical design through launch and iteration with increasing scope and independence.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a habit of seeking and acting on feedback.
• Comfort working with ambiguity on a newly formed team establishing new product surfaces.
• Understanding of mobile application performance, accessibility, and release/CI practices for a large-scale consumer application.

Location

This position is US-remote eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with the manager. Candidates must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity.

Compensation and Benefits

The base pay range is $162,000–$186,000 USD per year. The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
