Details

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. The Sending team builds payment products, payout methods, and related infrastructure for the US and UK markets.

Responsibilities

Architect, build, and maintain robust APIs, services, and systems across engineering teams using Ruby and Java.
Act as a domain expert on Stripe's payments products, including payout methods and the underlying payment rails used in the US and UK.
Build and enhance software infrastructure across the complete development lifecycle, including coding, testing, deployment, debugging, and maintenance.
Design software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure design outcomes.
Contribute to core interface design and write code.
Contribute code across every layer of the stack, from launching a new payout method API to making UI changes in the Stripe Dashboard for Stripe Connect.
Scope and lead technical projects, enabling early-stage products to evolve and scale iteratively.
Engineer payments integrations with banking partners to launch new markets, payout methods, and capabilities while ensuring reliability and scalability.
Collaborate with engineers across the company to build large-scale features.
Design and implement secure systems for sensitive data storage.
Determine when existing infrastructure can be leveraged and when a bespoke solution is necessary.
Evaluate technology and architecture choices for payment products.
Develop and execute short- and long-term roadmaps, balancing business priorities, user experience, and a sustainable technical foundation.
Ensure technical decisions align with broader strategic goals and emerging business needs.
Develop and direct software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation to ensure reliability.
Participate in the 24/7 on-call rotation to manage and resolve production incidents affecting users.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science or a related field, followed by two years of experience in software development.
Two years of experience building software solutions in Python, Ruby, Java, and TypeScript.
Experience designing, building, and working with large user-facing APIs.
Experience translating business needs into software requirements and designs.
Experience debugging production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack.
Experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable, highly available systems.
Experience designing and implementing secure systems for sensitive data storage.

Compensation and Work Arrangement

Base salary: $156,800–$235,200 per year.
40 hours per week.
50% telecommuting permitted.
Multiple positions available.
