Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform used by businesses worldwide to accept payments, grow revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities.
The Local Payment Methods team is responsible for Stripe's rapidly growing payments business. The team builds payment methods and the platform used to build and distribute them at scale, helping businesses improve checkout conversion and increase revenue.
Responsibilities
- Develop the long-term vision and strategy for a pillar within the Local Payment Methods team and create and execute a compelling roadmap.
- Build a deep understanding of Stripe users, including merchants and partners, by collaborating with partnership managers, risk, legal, compliance, data science, engineering, product, and go-to-market teams.
- Drive adoption of strategic payment methods across Stripe's merchant base and identify new distribution opportunities, including cross-border acceptance and use cases such as recurring or agentic payments.
- Partner with Risk teams to implement controls and enforcement strategies that support sustainable growth, protect Stripe and its financial partners, maximize approval rates, and minimize losses.
- Collaborate with product marketing and go-to-market teams to turn multi-quarter roadmaps into compelling and actionable narratives.
- Analyze global payment industry trends and competitors' offerings to influence Stripe's roadmap.
- Work with Stripe and financial partners' product and engineering organizations to define investments based on distribution potential, performance, costs, and risks.
- Collaborate with partnership managers to develop joint product roadmaps with payment partners and navigate competing priorities.
- Become a subject-matter expert for a subset of Stripe's strategic payment partners.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in product management or a product-adjacent role, with a track record of building impactful products.
- Experience partnering with engineers, designers, and external partners to build products and complex systems at scale.
- Ability to communicate with and influence user-facing and partner-facing stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate user problems precisely and concisely.
- Strong analytical capabilities, including defining and tracking success metrics, running experiments such as holdback tests, and using data to measure product impact on revenue, conversion, and margins.
- Experience working on products that require aligning multiple stakeholders, developing joint roadmaps, and navigating competing internal and external priorities.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with significant autonomy and responsibility.
- Experience delivering multi-quarter roadmaps and aligning diverse stakeholders to achieve shared goals.
- Strong business acumen and comfort with complex ecosystem and platform-level problems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with online payments and a deep understanding of conversion, cost, and risk trade-offs.
- Experience optimizing revenue outcomes for an online payments business.
- Experience working with financial partners and users from various geographies and cultures.
- Experience building platform or marketplace products where success requires balancing multiple stakeholder interests and creating value across an ecosystem.
