Use Python, data analysis, and advanced modelling to analyse energy markets and Eneco’s portfolio. Translate complex market developments into clear insights for investment, pricing, and risk decisions while working with senior stakeholders to help shape Eneco’s strategic direction.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain long-term energy market views used for investment valuation, pricing, and strategic decision-making.
  • Analyse power market fundamentals, supply and demand dynamics, imbalance costs, and market developments.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve advanced portfolio and market models in Python.
  • Model Eneco’s commodity portfolio, including electricity, gas, heat, certificates, renewable assets, and storage solutions.
  • Assess the impact of market, weather, regulatory, and portfolio scenarios on Eneco’s performance and risk position.
  • Collaborate closely with teams across Portfolio Management, Trading, Strategy, Finance, and Regulatory Affairs.
  • Translate analytical outcomes into clear recommendations that support business decisions.
  • Analyse long-term energy market developments and understand how market, regulatory, and portfolio changes affect Eneco’s performance and future direction.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in mathematics, econometrics, engineering, data science, physics, or another quantitative field.
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience; candidates with less experience may also be considered based on their potential.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual problem-solving skills.
  • Fluency in Python and experience with quantitative modelling.
  • Experience working with large datasets and translating data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex topics to different audiences.
  • Strong interest in energy markets and the energy transition.
  • Intellectual curiosity, ownership, initiative, and the ability to work with a variety of stakeholders.

The Strategic Portfolio Management team works on market analysis, portfolio modelling, and strategic advisory activities across Eneco. The role combines data science, quantitative analysis, portfolio management, and strategy, with a focus on developing insights that support investment, pricing, and risk decisions.
