Details

Airbnb is seeking a Product Marketing & Management leader to join the People to Meet team, a category of Experiences designed to bring strangers together through shared activities and interests such as run clubs, supper clubs, book clubs, and game nights. The role will help build a new category from the ground up, shaping guest and host experiences and supporting Airbnb's evolution into a real-world social network.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a product vision, strategy, and roadmap for People to Meet across guest and host journeys.
  • Translate guest, host, and partner feedback into product features and positioning, including profiles, identity, discovery, matching, messaging, conversation starters, and post-event connection.
  • Develop public-facing messaging and narratives and communicate the value proposition to guests, hosts, and the media.
  • Align product teams and cross-functional partners across marketing, communications, research, and product marketing and management.
  • Grow and shape the supply of social formats by partnering with hosts and creators to design repeatable, high-quality experiences.
  • Own the guest connection experience before, during, and after events while balancing scale with social intimacy.
  • Champion trust, safety, and privacy as core product responsibilities for in-person connections.
  • Maintain a healthy storefront and a high quality bar across People to Meet listings.
  • Make user-focused prioritization and execution decisions, ship products, and deliver impact for Airbnb and its users.
  • Role-model open communication and curiosity.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of product management and/or product marketing experience.
  • Experience creating product messaging and positioning and delivering it to customers and the media.
  • Subject matter expertise, ideally in consumer social, community, events, or marketplace businesses.
  • Experience building social or community products, including profiles and identity, matching and discovery, messaging, and mechanisms that turn first meetings into lasting connections.
  • Fluency in two-sided marketplace dynamics, including bootstrapping supply and demand, navigating cold starts, and designing for network effects and repeat engagement.
  • Understanding of trust and safety and privacy by design, particularly for bringing strangers together safely in the real world.
  • Experience gathering requirements and creating documentation and specifications that align engineering, design, research, and partner teams.
  • Ability to build compelling customer-focused stories and collaborate with marketing and communications partners.
  • Demonstrated product leadership in a cross-functional environment.
  • Experience building and scaling global consumer products, marketplaces, or ecosystems.
  • Entrepreneurial track record of taking ideas to reality and leading teams in dynamic environments.
  • Experience working on consumer products that drive significant engagement and revenue.
  • Strong ability to use data and perform business analysis to support product strategy and go-to-market decisions.
  • Ability and desire to travel frequently, including domestically and internationally.
  • Ability to work Pacific Time Zone hours as needed.

Location

There is a strong preference for the successful applicant to be based in San Francisco, Seattle, or New York. Employees cannot currently be located in Alaska, Indiana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Delaware, or Rhode Island. The list is subject to change.

Compensation

The base pay range is $200,000–$240,000 USD. Actual base pay depends on factors including training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands.
