Senior Frontend Engineer, Community Builders

Reddit's Community Builders organization focuses on helping users start and grow communities by creating joyful, low-effort, and modern community-building experiences. The team is seeking a Frontend Engineer to build and enhance products, develop features end to end, and ensure systems are scalable, reliable, and capable of serving community builder needs.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain user-facing product features while ensuring system performance, security, and scalability.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, data scientists, and other engineers to deliver high-quality products.
• Contribute to the full development cycle, including technical design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
• Review code and design documents and provide feedback on product specifications and mockups.
• Define standards that improve developer workflows and recommend best practices.
• Coach and mentor engineers to support their professional development.
• Continuously improve technical and non-technical abilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a quantitative or computer science-related field, or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of software development experience in one or more frontend-focused programming languages, including JavaScript, TypeScript, or ES6.
• Experience with one or more frontend web frameworks, such as Lit, Polymer, React, Vue, or Angular, as well as CSS.
• Experience with GraphQL, REST, HTTP, and Thrift basics is a plus.
• Ability to design and implement maintainable APIs.
• Ability to take end-to-end ownership of projects, from initial design through deployment and maintenance.
• Passion for learning and adapting to new technologies.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Self-directed, innovative, action-oriented approach and the ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.

Additional Information

The base salary range for this position is $190,000–$267,000 USD. The role may span more than one career level. Depending on the position offered, it may also be eligible for commission. Final offer amounts depend on skills, depth of work experience, and relevant licenses or credentials.
