Details
Bloomberg's Connectivity & Integration (BCI) group provides a platform for customers to integrate Bloomberg products with complex, time-sensitive software systems. The team is building a next-generation Integration Platform using open-source, third-party, and in-house technologies.
The team owns the critical Transformation Engine at the heart of the Integration Platform. The engine provides a visual programming language within a no-code toolkit for extracting, transforming, enriching, and processing data between Bloomberg and third-party systems.
The role will lead the team's C# and .NET strategy while contributing across the full technology stack.
Responsibilities
- Act as the subject matter expert on C#, including architecture, stability, performance, and scaling.
- Lead the team's technical strategy around .NET best practices and the development lifecycle.
- Design and implement feature and performance enhancements for the products.
- Contribute across the full technology stack, including .NET, Java, Python, TypeScript, and React.
- Participate in on-call rotations for incident response and provide business-hours support for users building transforms.
- Implement the next generation of the Transform code-generation, compilation, and execution framework.
- Enhance the Transform authoring experience with toolkit features, including AI-powered program generation and explanation.
- Improve resilience in the leader-election and job-submission distributed systems of the workflow engine.
- Contribute to Bloomberg's company-wide C# Guild and help establish C# practices across the organization.
Technical Environment

Requirements
- 4+ years of software development experience with deep expertise in C# and the .NET ecosystem.
- Strong understanding of C# internals, including threading, async/await patterns, performance profiling, and diagnostics.
- Experience working with distributed systems and service-oriented systems or architectures.
Nice-to-Haves
- Hands-on experience migrating codebases from .NET Framework to .NET.
- Experience establishing engineering best practices and mentoring teams in modern C# development.
- Experience with functional programming.
- Front-end development experience using WPF and/or React.
