Bloomberg's Connectivity & Integration (BCI) group provides a platform for customers to integrate Bloomberg products with complex, time-sensitive software systems. The team is building a next-generation Integration Platform using open-source, third-party, and in-house technologies.

The team owns the critical Transformation Engine at the heart of the Integration Platform. The engine provides a visual programming language within a no-code toolkit for extracting, transforming, enriching, and processing data between Bloomberg and third-party systems.

The role will lead the team's C# and .NET strategy while contributing across the full technology stack.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the subject matter expert on C#, including architecture, stability, performance, and scaling.
  • Lead the team's technical strategy around .NET best practices and the development lifecycle.
  • Design and implement feature and performance enhancements for the products.
  • Contribute across the full technology stack, including .NET, Java, Python, TypeScript, and React.
  • Participate in on-call rotations for incident response and provide business-hours support for users building transforms.
  • Implement the next generation of the Transform code-generation, compilation, and execution framework.
  • Enhance the Transform authoring experience with toolkit features, including AI-powered program generation and explanation.
  • Improve resilience in the leader-election and job-submission distributed systems of the workflow engine.
  • Contribute to Bloomberg's company-wide C# Guild and help establish C# practices across the organization.

Technical Environment

  • Service-oriented architecture.
  • Highly available, fault-tolerant, and self-healing distributed systems.
  • Language design and compilation.
  • User interface and experience development.
  • Legacy product developed predominantly with .NET Framework.
  • Next-generation architecture developed in .NET and Java for Linux environments.
  • Supporting services developed with Python, Java, TypeScript, and React.
  • The team is migrating shared code from .NET Framework to .NET.
  • The legacy product compiles to F#.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of software development experience with deep expertise in C# and the .NET ecosystem.
  • Strong understanding of C# internals, including threading, async/await patterns, performance profiling, and diagnostics.
  • Experience working with distributed systems and service-oriented systems or architectures.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Hands-on experience migrating codebases from .NET Framework to .NET.
  • Experience establishing engineering best practices and mentoring teams in modern C# development.
  • Experience with functional programming.
  • Front-end development experience using WPF and/or React.

Benefits

Benefits may include merit increases, incentive compensation for exempt roles, paid holidays, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, short- and long-term disability benefits, 401(k) matching, life insurance, and wellness programs.
