About this role
Are you ready to redefine the future of JavaScript development? Are you a seasoned JavaScript expert who gets a thrill from tackling complex challenges across the entire JavaScript ecosystem?
This isn't your typical Senior Software Engineer position. As a key member of our growing JavaScript SDK team, you'll be at the forefront of innovation, working on everything from our cutting-edge SDKs for Node.js, Bun, Deno, Cloudflare Workers, and other modern server runtimes.
You won't just be maintaining code; you'll be pushing the boundaries of what's possible in developer tooling across the rapidly evolving server-side JavaScript landscape.
In this role you will
Join our JavaScript SDK team and get ready to build the future. You'll be at the forefront, working on:
- A Universe of JavaScript Challenges: Work across our suite of JavaScript SDKs with a focus on server-side and edge runtimes — from the Node.js ecosystem to Bun and Deno, and distributed edge environments like Cloudflare Workers.
- End-to-End Ownership: Plan, implement, and ship code—from writing robust unit and integration tests to crafting clear documentation.
- The AI-Powered Developer Experience: Utilize AI tools to supercharge productivity and focus on solving complex problems and delivering value.
- A Voice in the Open-Source Community: Collaborate with organizations and committees such as TC39, the Node.js core team, and the OpenTelemetry SIG.
- Direct Impact and Connection: Assist the Customer Operations team to squash critical bugs and interact directly with users on GitHub and at industry conferences.

Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer, web developer, or similar role
- Deep expertise in developing web applications, libraries, or SDKs using TypeScript/JavaScript
- Hands-on experience with Node.js and meaningful exposure to one or more modern server runtimes such as Bun, Deno, or Cloudflare Workers, with a solid understanding of differences in module systems, APIs, performance characteristics, and deployment models
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English
- Based in San Francisco (Bay Area) or excited about relocating to this tech hub
Bonus points for
- Experience working with WinterCG, the Web-interoperable Runtimes Community Group, or other runtime interoperability initiatives
- Familiarity with OpenTelemetry instrumentation in server-side or edge environments
- A history of contributing to or maintaining open-source libraries
- Experience engaging with open-source committees or working groups
Compensation
The base salary range Sentry reasonably expects to pay for this position is $190,000 to $280,000. Offers may also include equity.
