Airbnb is seeking a hands-on technical leader to own the configuration, migration, and continuous improvement of its Atlassian platforms. The role includes leading the transition from Jira Data Center to Jira Cloud, building automation and AI capabilities, reducing technical debt, and improving the productivity, quality, and reliability of enterprise systems.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary subject matter expert and hands-on administrator for Jira Cloud Software, Jira Cloud Service Management (JSM), and associated Atlassian tooling.
• Own configuration standards, governance, and technical debt reduction across the Atlassian environment.
• Architect and implement scalable Jira configurations, including custom workflows, issue type hierarchies, permission schemes, notification schemes, screens, and field configurations.
• Lead Jira migrations, including Data Center to Cloud migrations, cross-functional coordination, and seamless cutovers.
• Design and configure Jira Service Management projects, including SLAs, custom queues, JSM Forms, approval workflows, and security schemes.
• Build and maintain analytics, dashboards, and reporting solutions using Jira Cloud native tooling.
• Maintain custom Forge applications in partnership with supporting systems engineering teams.
• Configure and administer Atlassian access management, user lifecycle management, license optimization, and security improvements.
• Evaluate Atlassian Marketplace plugins against business, security, legal, and privacy requirements.
• Lead requirements-gathering sessions, translate business needs into technical designs, and identify opportunities for automation and process improvement.
• Configure and expand Atlassian Rovo AI agents and automation rules, and evaluate emerging AI/ML capabilities.
• Write and maintain Jira Automation rules using the native Automation engine and JavaScript.
• Use the Jira REST API for integrations, data imports, and custom reporting.
• Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for platform changes and migrations, including test plans, test scripts, and defect documentation.
• Facilitate Agile ceremonies and operate as Scrum Master or Product Owner for platform-focused workstreams as needed.
• Document system configurations, runbooks, and knowledge base articles.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and provide escalation support for critical Atlassian platform issues.

Requirements

• 7+ years of hands-on Atlassian administration experience, including Jira Software and Jira Service Management across Jira Cloud and Jira Data Center in enterprise environments.
• Deep expertise in Jira workflow design, including post functions, validators, conditions, custom properties, and JQL.
• Experience leading Jira Data Center to Cloud migrations, including project configuration migration, macro compatibility, and data integrity validation.
• Experience configuring Jira Cloud native tooling for capacity planning and portfolio reporting.
• Proficiency with Atlassian Marketplace plugins and JavaScript.
• Hands-on experience with the Jira REST API using tools such as Postman, including GET, PUT, and POST requests.
• Experience integrating Atlassian tools with identity providers through LDAP and Okta.
• Familiarity with user lifecycle management, license governance, and security hardening.
• Working knowledge of Atlassian Rovo and AI/ML capabilities, including configuring Rovo agents with consideration for AI ethics and contextual appropriateness.
• Experience configuring Jira Automation rules and working knowledge of JavaScript and JSON.
• Strong Jira Service Management experience, including SLA configuration, JSM Forms, custom queues, and approval workflows.
• Experience leading UAT for complex migrations and platform changes.
• Familiarity with SAFe Agile; SAFe Agilist or SAFe Scrum Master certification is a plus.
• Experience as a Scrum Master or Product Owner for technical workstreams.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently in a remote-first, high-growth environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Familiarity with Slack, Asana, Figma, Airtable, and Miro is an advantage.

Location

This position is US Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with the manager. The employee must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity.
