The role focuses approximately 75% on frontend development and 25% on backend development, building reliable systems for customer usage visibility, billing, provisioning, and account management.
The position is remote and open to candidates in Canada and the United States. Engineers will work on full-stack web applications, customer portals, backend services, APIs, and integrations across Grafana platforms and third-party systems.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, operate, and evolve reliable full-stack web applications, customer-facing account portals, and backend services supporting customer usage and billing workflows.
- Build and maintain backend APIs using Golang and Node.js, and user interfaces using TypeScript and React.
- Design and maintain integrations with NetSuite, Salesforce, and cloud marketplaces including AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Develop and automate business logic for customer usage metering, pricing structures, promotions, and billing reconciliation.
- Collaborate with product management, DealOps, GTM, Support, and adjacent AppCore squads.
- Address technical debt, optimize CI/CD pipelines, strengthen test coverage, and improve system observability and operational resilience.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers while shaping pragmatic solutions for complex systems challenges.
- Contribute to roadmap planning, technical design, OnCall improvements, and long-term simplification of stack operations.
- Improve runbooks, dashboards, alerts, reconciliation safety, rollout controls, and recovery procedures.
- Debug across service boundaries and make careful changes to systems affecting customer stacks.
- Design new microservices and systems, collaborate across teams, coordinate with product and UX, respond to customer feedback, and participate in roadmap planning and prioritization.
- Participate in a follow-the-sun OnCall rotation when ready.
Requirements
- At least one year of fully remote work experience.
- Experience working on a large SaaS platform and solving distributed systems problems such as scalability, multi-tenancy, data isolation, and high availability.
- Strong professional experience with Golang, Node.js, TypeScript, and React.
- Commitment to developer experience, user experience, and product quality.
- Experience delivering projects from requirements gathering and ideation through product launch.
- Ability to write clean, robust, well-tested, maintainable software.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers in a collaborative, asynchronous environment.
- Ability to break down complex challenges into modular solutions, deliver MVPs, gather feedback, and iterate.
- Willingness to work across teams and align plans with external stakeholders and other squads.
- Strong Kubernetes experience in AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tooling such as Helm, Terraform, or Jsonnet.
Bonus Points
- Experience with high-volume usage metering, billing engines, or customer-facing cost management applications.
- Experience designing, building, and maintaining integrations with NetSuite, Salesforce, or cloud marketplaces.
- Experience with frontend component libraries, design systems, and modern CSS-in-JS tooling.
- Familiarity with cloud marketplace integrations and SaaS provisioning and tenancy patterns.
- Experience with SaaS provisioning, tenancy, regional expansion, plugin rollout, or customer lifecycle systems.
- Experience with incident response involving configuration drift, partial failure, or cross-service state mismatch.
Benefits
- Compensation includes Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
- Remote-first global culture.
- Career growth pathways.
- In-person onboarding.
- Global annual leave policy of 30 days per annum, including three Grafana Shutdown Days, subject to local legislation.
- Equal opportunity employment.
