Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. The Web Presence and Platform team designs and builds stripe.com and other public-facing sites that serve as a first impression of Stripe.

The Presence pillar creates industry-leading designs for Stripe's front-door surfaces, educating customers about the platform, sharing Stripe's ideas and expertise, and driving adoption. The Platform pillar builds the internal machinery that powers these surfaces and makes the websites fast, stable, and easy to update.

As a Design Engineer, you will concept, prototype, and build new experiences for Stripe's web presence. You will work across evergreen pages and time-based campaigns, use and contribute to libraries and design systems, create new digital moments when appropriate, consider in-browser performance, and create abstractions that other designers and engineers can use.

On the Collective pod, you will help advance Stripe.com by bringing new experiences to life and refining existing content to inform prospective users about the company and its offerings. You will partner closely with designers, engineers, and other stakeholders to execute and evolve the site.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with designers and partners to create new experiences for and maintain Stripe.com.
• Work closely with other design engineers through pairing, mentoring, and continuous development of a culture of excellence.
• Prototype and implement web animations and interaction-heavy product launch materials.
• Build polished, best-in-class end-user experiences to solve complex problems.
• Use, maintain, and extend design systems.
• Integrate the web platform with self-service authoring and experimentation.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

• 3+ years of relevant web front-end development or creative technology experience at a technology-focused, product-driven company.
• Advanced knowledge of modern HTML and CSS.
• Experience writing clear, elegant code in a team environment.
• A portfolio demonstrating enthusiasm for the web as a storytelling medium, including design work and front-end code such as design systems, engaging microsites, Figma plugins, WebGL experiments, CSS art, or similar work.
• Experience designing and building public-facing websites that work elegantly across commonly used browsers and devices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Understanding of formal design elements, including typography, layout, balance, and proportion.
• Proficiency with React, particularly interactions, animation, performance, and polish.
• Experience with A/B testing, synthetic monitoring, or accessibility testing.
