Details

Airbnb’s Community Support Engineering team builds the technology, architecture, and solutions that power global community support operations. The Agent Core Products team develops software that empowers support agents and improves the experience and quality of service provided to Airbnb guests and hosts.

The Senior Software Engineer will work with a diverse team to shape technical vision and deliver flexible, efficient, and scalable solutions. The team focuses on strategic projects that improve key metrics, product quality, and operational efficiency, including systems enhanced by machine learning and generative AI.

Responsibilities

Work cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering teams to execute product and business strategy.
Drive and contribute to the full development lifecycle, including technical design, development, test automation, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
Review code and design documents and provide feedback on product specifications and designs.
Build efficient, reusable, high-quality frontend web components with strong performance and scalability.
Design and implement server-side APIs to support frontend requirements.
Apply sound architectural judgment to the separation of concerns between client-side and server-side logic.
Collaborate with Machine Learning and Generative AI Engineers to improve Community Support systems.
Provide input on technical direction through engineering design discussions.
Mentor junior developers.

Requirements

6+ years of industry experience.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
Experience architecting frontend systems and owning end-to-end features and cross-team integrations.
Experience building large web applications using JavaScript or TypeScript.
Experience with modern JavaScript/TypeScript libraries and tooling, such as React and GraphQL.
Fluency in HTML, CSS, and related web technologies.
Demonstrated excellence in accessibility, performance optimization, and paved-path client practices.
Strong communication skills and a product mindset, with the ability to drive cross-organizational integrations.
Experience building user interfaces for AI-driven features, including classical supervised machine learning and generative AI.
Proficiency in one or more backend server languages, such as Java or Kotlin.

Location

This position is US remote eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with the manager. Candidates must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity.
