Details
As a QA Engineer, you play a key role in realizing ABN AMRO’s strategy of being a personal bank in the digital age. Working closely with an interdisciplinary DevOps team, you are responsible for ensuring the quality, stability, and reliability of backend systems.
Responsibilities
- Define and drive the test strategy for backend services and APIs.
- Design, develop, and maintain API and integration test frameworks.
- Validate service-to-service integrations and data flows.
- Ensure data integrity, contract validation, and error handling.
- Ensure quality gates are met in CI/CD pipelines.
- Perform manual exploratory testing when required.
- Identify, report, and track defects with clear root-cause analysis.
- Collaborate closely with developers, product owners, and DevOps teams.
- Advocate for shift-left testing, quality best practices, and continuous improvement.
- Mentor junior QA engineers and contribute to QA capability building.
Working Environment
The Daily Banking department facilitates customers in their daily banking services, including payments, savings, credits, and insurance. The department is responsible for clear and reliable product and contract administration and provides business customers with liquidity services such as cash pooling.
The Daily Banking IT team works at the forefront of innovation while safeguarding the stability of the bank’s core systems. Teams are multidisciplinary and work according to DevOps principles, managing the entire IT development chain to enable fast time-to-market with maximum autonomy.
The IT landscape includes home-built applications, Microsoft Azure Cloud, mainframe platforms, RESTful and SOAP web services, Vue.js applications, and integrations with SaaS solutions.
Requirements
- 5+ years of overall QA experience, including 3+ years of strong hands-on API test automation.
- Strong experience with automation tools such as Rest Assured and Karate.
- Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter and NeoLoad.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and DevOps ways of working.
- Strong proficiency with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps Pipelines, GitHub Actions, and GitLab CI.
- Hands-on experience with test case management tools such as Azure Test Plans.
- Experience working with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
- Experience working in fintech or regulated environments is desirable.
- Experience with contract-based testing, such as Pact and Specmatic, is desirable.
- Good understanding of web application testing.
- Experience with test data management and environment coordination.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new tools and domains.

Compensation And Benefits
- Gross monthly salary of €4,634–€6,620 based on a 36-hour work week, including holiday allowance and a flexible benefit budget.
