Passport & Commerce builds the trusted account and commerce foundation that supports Airbnb users from sign-up through profiles, connections, bookings, benefits, and business transactions. The team works closely with Payments and Wallet engineering, Identity & Privacy, Profile & Community, and Guest & Host product, design, and data science partners.
As a Senior Software Engineer on the iOS team, you will build account-related iOS experiences for millions of guests and hosts. You will own complex features end-to-end, from technical design through launch, while collaborating with backend, Android, web, product, and design counterparts.
Responsibilities
- Design and build iOS features using modern declarative UI and unidirectional state architecture.
- Partner with product and design to develop polished and accessible iOS experiences.
- Collaborate with backend, Android, and web engineers to maintain consistent feature behavior and data across platforms.
- Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code.
- Participate in code and design reviews.
- Mentor other engineers and help improve iOS engineering practices as the team scales.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mobile app performance and reliability issues.
- Establish technical patterns and foundations for the team's growing iOS presence.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional iOS engineering experience, including shipping and maintaining features in a large-scale production consumer app.
- Strong proficiency in Swift and modern iOS architecture.
- Experience with declarative UI, such as SwiftUI; unidirectional state management, such as MVI, MVVM, or Redux-style architectures; and dependency injection.
- Experience partnering with backend and other platform engineers to shape APIs and maintain cross-platform consistency.
- Experience owning complex features from technical design through launch and iteration.
- Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to team-level technical decisions.
- Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments and help establish new iOS surfaces.
- Solid understanding of mobile app performance, accessibility, and release and CI practices for large-scale consumer applications.
Location
This position is US Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with the manager. Employees must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity.
Compensation
The base pay range is $196,000–$227,000 USD. The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
