Details

Grafana Labs is hiring a Senior Platform Engineer for its new Foundations “Metal” squad. This remote role focuses on building and provisioning storage, networking, and Kubernetes clusters in new environments, beginning with physical hardware. The squad will provide Kubernetes control planes and underlying resources outside public cloud for Grafana Cloud engineering teams.

Responsibilities

Manage the physical “Metal” environment, from bare metal to Kubernetes.
Manage cluster networking components, including load balancing, NAT, DNS, CNIs, cross-cluster communication, routing protocols, and architecture.
Manage scheduling and autoscaling.
Maintain Crossplane compositions and Terraform modules for cloud service provider resources.
Manage versioning and compatibility for Crossplane, Terraform Core, and providers.
Work with Grafana Cloud application teams to understand their needs and invest in the right platform capabilities.
Own the full lifecycle of code, including design documentation, developer feedback, integration testing, and operations.
Participate in an on-call rotation.

Requirements

Experience with datacenters and operating code in production.
Comfort working in a remote-first, highly distributed company.
Interest or experience in distributed systems.
Experience working collaboratively with engineers and management structures.
Experience with Go, Python, and Shell.
Experience operating and managing workloads on Kubernetes.

Bonus Qualifications

Experience with Cluster-API, Tinkerbell, Talos, and/or Ceph.
Experience with open-source or community-based projects.
Experience with AWS, GCP, and Azure, including EKS, GKE, and AKS.
Experience with Tanka and Jsonnet.
Familiarity with Kubernetes scheduling and Karpenter.
Experience with Terraform and/or Crossplane.
Experience programming in Go to build tools, utilities, and exporters.

Compensation

The compensation range in Spain is €82,988–€99,586 per year. Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset. The role includes Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
