Details

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. The Agentic Commerce team is building systems that enable AI agents to shop, buy, and pay safely and reliably on behalf of people and businesses. This role is based in Singapore and focuses on shaping and localizing agentic commerce for APAC.

Responsibilities

Own the architecture and technical direction for agentic commerce in APAC, from early design through production and adoption.
Lead large, ambiguous projects by breaking problems down for parallel work, making product and architecture decisions, and removing blockers.
Operate autonomously across time zones, making sound decisions independently and escalating appropriately.
Work directly with strategic users and partners to understand their needs and translate them into technical direction and systems.
Write clear technical proposals, design documents, and decision records that enable asynchronous collaboration.
Represent Stripe in person with senior users and partners, explaining complex technical ideas to technical and non-technical audiences.
Write and review code while maintaining a high quality standard for both AI-assisted and manually written code.
Use AI tools in daily work and develop reusable tooling and workflows to improve team productivity.
Partner with Engineering Management, Product, and go-to-market teams across regions on long-term vision and roadmaps.
Teach and mentor engineers as the APAC team grows.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

10+ years of software engineering experience, remaining hands-on with architecture and code.
A track record of serving as the technical lead for a complex, external-facing product or platform.
Deep software architecture experience and sound judgment regarding tradeoffs under ambiguity.
Proven ability to work independently and drive projects to completion with limited oversight, ideally across time zones or distributed teams.
Excellent written communication, including the ability to write documents that enable decisions to be made asynchronously.
Strong in-person and verbal communication skills, including experience with high-stakes conversations involving senior strategic users.
Comfort working directly with users, earning trust, and translating their needs into technical direction.
Regular use of AI tools in daily delivery, with the ability to evaluate their output against a high quality standard.
Ability to build alignment across teams and functions without direct authority.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in payments, fintech, or commerce infrastructure.
Experience building for APAC markets or fluency in the region's commerce landscape and languages.
Experience with AI agents, LLM-driven products, or protocols that enable software to transact autonomously.
Experience taking early-stage products from zero to adoption.
Experience as a founding or early engineer on a new team or product.
