Details

Reddit is seeking a Backend Engineer to join the Moderation organization, whose mission is to build features that enable moderators to create and grow meaningful communities. This role will contribute to technical and product strategy, operations, architecture, and execution for one of the largest sites in the world.

Responsibilities

Work cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering teams to execute product and business strategy.
Build novel products and features for Reddit users.
Contribute to the full development cycle, including technical design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
Review code and design documents, and provide feedback on product specifications and mocks.
Continuously develop technical and non-technical skills.

Requirements

2–5 years of software development industry experience in an enterprise environment.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Proficiency in one or more general-purpose programming languages; Go or Python is required. Rust and Ruby experience is also relevant.
Experience with GraphQL, REST, HTTP, Thrift, or gRPC basics.
Ability to design and implement maintainable APIs.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and keep projects on schedule.
Entrepreneurial spirit, self-direction, innovation, and a bias toward action in fast-paced environments.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a fully remote environment with technical and non-technical audiences.

Compensation

The base salary range is $164,200–$229,900 USD. The role is also eligible for equity in the form of restricted stock units and may be eligible for commission depending on the position offered.
