Reddit's Presence organization enriches the platform across two core workstreams: building a network for high-value professionals, including businesses, publishers, and creators, and enabling safe youth engagement. The Reddit Pro team builds advanced tooling that helps brands, publishers, organizations, and professionals create engaging content and grow their presence on Reddit. The Youth Experience team makes knowledge and communities accessible safely and thoughtfully for younger audiences while protecting teen users' safety and privacy.

This is a high-impact role involving technical and product strategy, with the opportunity to help build a new product space.

Responsibilities

• Work cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering teams to execute product and business strategy and build new products and features.
• Contribute to the full development cycle, including technical design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
• Review code, design documents, product specifications, and design mocks, and provide feedback.
• Participate in a fast-moving engineering team and contribute to standards that improve developer workflows.
• Recommend best practices and mentor engineers to help grow their technical expertise.
• Contribute to strategic planning and decision-making for backend development.
• Balance speed and quality while building new products and avoiding critical defects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 3 years of industry experience with large-scale distributed systems.
• At least 5 years of professional software development experience using one or more general-purpose programming languages, such as Go, Python, Ruby, Java, or C++.
• Experience with GraphQL, REST, HTTP, and Thrift basics, including designing and implementing maintainable APIs.
• Experience with distributed caching layers and large-scale distributed data storage systems such as Cassandra.
• Track record of developing and improving highly scalable and reliable serving systems.
• Track record of leading projects requiring cross-team and cross-functional collaboration.
• Strong organizational skills, prioritization abilities, and a record of delivering projects on schedule.
• Self-directed, innovative, action-oriented approach in fast-paced and ambiguous environments.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a fully remote environment with technical and non-technical audiences.

Compensation

The base salary range is $190,000–$267,000 USD per year. The position may also be eligible for commission depending on the position offered. Final offer amounts vary based on factors including skills, work experience, and relevant credentials.
