Are you passionate about building scalable data solutions and improving engineering standards across teams? Within ABN AMRO's Non-Financial Risk Grid, you will help shape the next generation of data-driven risk applications on Azure. The role focuses on designing, developing, and optimising data platforms and pipelines supporting critical Market Abuse Monitoring processes. You will combine hands-on data engineering with technical leadership while driving standardisation across a diverse application landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data integration solutions on Microsoft Azure.
  • Build and optimise data processing workflows using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Python, and PySpark.
  • Support data streams used for Market Abuse Monitoring and other Non-Financial Risk processes.
  • Standardise Azure DevOps pipelines, deployment processes, and Infrastructure-as-Code practices across teams.
  • Improve CI/CD processes to increase reliability, security, and delivery speed for applications and data platforms.
  • Design and implement integrations between applications, databases, and cloud-based data platforms.
  • Define technical standards and best practices for Azure engineering and data development.
  • Coach colleagues and help teams adopt modern DataOps, DevOps, and cloud engineering principles.
  • Identify improvement opportunities within the data landscape and drive implementation.
  • Balance hands-on engineering with technical leadership in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders and applications.

Working Environment

You will join the Non-Financial Risk Grid, where applications and data platforms support critical risk processes across the bank. The role is part of an international DevOps team working in Scrum teams with two-week sprints. Team members typically meet at the Amsterdam-area office twice per week.

Requirements

  • Strong Data Engineering foundation and experience building robust, scalable, and maintainable data solutions.
  • A DevOps mindset focused on automation, standardisation, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience working with large and complex datasets in business-critical environments.
  • Ability to define and communicate a technical vision for application and data platforms.
  • Experience with Azure Data Factory and enterprise-scale data integration solutions.
  • Experience developing data processing solutions using Python and PySpark.
  • Experience with Azure Databricks and modern cloud-based data platforms.
  • Experience designing, building, and optimising ETL/ELT pipelines.
  • Experience with data streaming, transformation, enrichment, and monitoring processes.
  • Solid experience with SQL Server and T-SQL.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and release automation.
  • Experience driving standardisation and engineering best practices across teams.
  • Experience designing and implementing integrations between applications and data platforms.
  • Infrastructure as Code using Bicep and/or ARM templates.
  • Knowledge of Azure security, governance, and networking concepts.
  • Experience with Azure App Services, Storage Accounts, Key Vault, and Application Gateway.
  • Experience with authentication and SSO solutions, including OpenID Connect and SAML.
  • Experience in financial services, transaction monitoring, surveillance, or risk domains is a strong plus.
  • Passion for your field of expertise, along with the ability to coach and mentor colleagues.

  • Gross monthly salary of €5,304–€7,577 based on a 36-hour work week, including holiday allowance and a flexible benefit budget.
