Reddit's Machine Learning Platform team owns the foundational embeddings and infrastructure powering recommendations, content discovery, user and content quantification, and other product areas including Growth, Ads, Feeds, and Core Machine Learning.

As Senior Engineering Manager, Unified Embeddings Platform, you will lead the Embeddings Platform team and help architect, implement, and maintain a platform providing foundational machine learning embeddings based on state-of-the-art architectures, including large-scale graph neural networks, foundational models, and large-scale sequence models. You will partner with infrastructure and machine learning teams across Reddit to improve the machine learning feature software development lifecycle for machine learning engineers and data scientists.

Responsibilities

• Lead the creation of foundational embeddings at Reddit using graph neural networks, transformer-based sequence models, foundational models, and related architectures.
• Lead the design and long-term evolution of Reddit's Embeddings Platform, enabling machine learning teams to access, store, and share embeddings.
• Drive high-impact, high-leverage projects aligned with Reddit's broader engineering and business goals.
• Build and grow a high-performing team through hiring, mentoring, and fostering a culture of technical excellence.
• Establish and champion best practices for the production, consumption, and governance of machine learning features.
• Serve as a thought partner to product and upper management to align team plans with company goals.
• Communicate the team's work and set expectations with cross-functional stakeholders.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in people management.
• 8+ years of work experience in a production software development environment.
• Strong focus on scalability, reliability, performance, and ease of use, with a deep understanding of the machine learning development lifecycle.
• Experience working on large-scale machine learning systems serving hundreds of millions of users.
• Experience building self-service platforms for storing and sharing large-scale data and embeddings.
• Experience leading modeling teams that create foundational embeddings using state-of-the-art architectures.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

The role is remote in the United States. The base salary range is $266,000–$372,400 USD. The position may also be eligible for a commission depending on the position offered. Interviews may be recorded, transcribed, and summarized by artificial intelligence, with an option to opt out before scheduled interviews.
