Details

As a Senior Forward Deploy Engineer at SentinelOne, you will work at the intersection of customers and the product. You will collaborate with customer engineering teams and SentinelOne codebases to ship integrations, fixes, and platform improvements. The role spans multiple products and services, including data pipelines, the Singularity Data Lake, and EventDB, a highly scalable columnar database that ingests petabytes of data per day.

Responsibilities

Develop full-stack software, primarily using React and Java, to turn customer requirements and product gaps into shipped solutions.
Write robust tests, resolve bugs, and maintain high standards for security, code quality, and efficiency.
Work across multiple codebases, including on escalated issues spanning multiple products.
Engage with customers and field teams to understand environments, goals, and constraints.
Translate ambiguous or contradictory requirements into clear technical strategies.
Bring field learnings into product and engineering planning and advocate for customer needs.
Occasionally support pre-sales scoping where early engineering input is required.
Design and deliver integrations connecting SentinelOne products to customer environments.
Work alongside customer engineers and provide knowledge transfer, runbooks, integration documentation, and executive-level technical communication.
Contribute fixes and improvements to the core platform and partner with platform teams to ensure long-term support.
Build tooling that codifies repeatable patterns and scales the Forward Deploy function.
Architect end-to-end solutions for complex, loosely defined problems spanning multiple codebases and teams.
Document trade-offs and implementation details and review technical specifications.
Conduct code reviews focused on quality, security, and efficiency.
Respond to customer and internal escalations without a regular on-call rotation.
Assist colleagues, provide constructive feedback, and participate in weekly syncs and daily Slack standups.

Requirements

Solid computer science background and 5+ years of engineering experience across backend and frontend development.
Proven experience designing and operating distributed systems or data-intensive services.
Experience leading substantial work end-to-end under ambiguity and with multiple stakeholders.
Experience working directly with customers or senior stakeholders to shape technical solutions.
Deep proficiency in at least one production programming language; Java is strongly preferred, with 5+ years of experience preferred.
Working comfort with at least one additional programming language.
Ability to write concise, readable, and maintainable code.
Willingness and ability to learn new tools and codebases as required.
Experience or familiarity with modern Java, React, TypeScript, Kafka, Redis, GraphQL, Node.js, and SentinelOne's platform.
Understanding of CAP theorem considerations and data-structure trade-offs.
Cybersecurity experience is strongly preferred, including familiarity with SIEM, EDR/XDR, log pipelines, detection engineering, or threat hunting.
Ability to become productive quickly in unfamiliar codebases.
Ability to translate precisely between engineers and non-engineers, including customers, executives, sales, and product teams.
Commitment to mentorship and helping other engineers grow.
Strong written communication skills for tickets, design documents, customer runbooks, and executive briefings.
