Details

Grafana Labs is seeking an AI Software Engineer to build and scale AI-powered features for enterprise data analytics. The role focuses on helping users and AI agents understand and act on large, messy datasets through use cases such as product analytics, sales data, information retrieval, and data engineering workflows.

This is a highly autonomous role within a skunkworks initiative. You will design, develop, test, and ship production-grade AI features while rapidly prototyping, validating ideas with users, and iterating based on feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Build and deliver high-performance AI features that help users discover, organize, and optimize access to large datasets.
  • Prototype, test, ship, and evolve LLM- and agent-powered workflows for the data engineering lifecycle.
  • Develop AI-driven product features, including agentic integrations with internal tools such as Slack and alerting systems.
  • Collaborate with internal data teams for dogfooding and validation.
  • Use AI and automation tools to improve product functionality and development workflows.
  • Make UI design decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Own AI solutions end to end, ensuring they are innovative, scalable, maintainable, and aligned with user workflows.
  • Communicate effectively and contribute across teams in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • Experience with LLMs, context engineering, and building applications powered by generative AI.
  • A proven track record of delivering production software that is actively used by customers or users.
  • Experience working in cloud-native environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Experience using observability tools to understand and troubleshoot system behavior.
  • Strong software engineering skills and experience building production-grade, user-facing systems.
  • A pragmatic approach to experimentation, prototyping, user feedback, and iteration.
  • Proven initiative, ownership, and ability to work effectively in ambiguous environments.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Bonus Points

  • Experience with agent frameworks or multi-agent workflows.
  • Experience as a data analyst or working with data platforms such as Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Snowflake, or Databricks.
  • Experience building tools for data engineering.

Benefits

  • Equity and bonus, if applicable.
  • 100% remote work and a global culture.
  • In-person onboarding.
  • 30 days of annual leave per year, including three Grafana Shutdown Days, subject to local legislation.
  • Career growth opportunities, transparent communication, and an innovation-driven environment.
