Details
Artificial Intelligence is becoming increasingly important in how ABN AMRO serves clients, supports colleagues and improves internal processes. The use of AI systems and underlying models also introduces evolving operational risks that must be identified, assessed, managed and monitored.
The new AI Risk Management team will report directly to the Chief Risk Officer and will initially be managed by CRO IT & Cyber, reflecting the strong connection between AI risk, technology risk, model risk, data, cybersecurity, governance and operational resilience.
Responsibilities
The role focuses on operational risks arising from the incorrect use of AI or the use of AI without adequate controls. You will help build and expand the organisation's AI risk management practice and contribute to a consistent approach across business processes, client interactions, decision-making, internal operations and supporting functions.
You will:
- Identify, assess and manage operational risks related to new and existing AI systems and underlying models.
- Support the design and implementation of risk frameworks, standards, guidance and governance for AI-related operational risks.
- Coordinate AI risk management activities across multiple disciplines and organisational units.
- Work closely with specialists in operational risk, IT risk, cyber risk, data risk, model risk, compliance and resilience.
- Collaborate with first-line stakeholders, including the CDO, CISO, P&T, client units and support units.
- Challenge and advise stakeholders on the responsible and controlled use of AI.
- Contribute to management information, reporting and oversight on AI-related operational risks.
- Monitor external developments, regulatory expectations and internal policies relevant to AI risk management.
- Contribute to awareness, knowledge sharing and capability building.
- Help develop and mature frameworks, guidance, reporting, governance and practical ways of working for responsible AI use.

Requirements
You are a risk professional with a strong interest in AI, data, technology and innovation. You can translate complex topics into clear risk insights and practical actions, connect people and perspectives, challenge constructively and advise pragmatically in a developing field.
You bring:
- Experience in risk management, preferably in operational risk, IT risk, technology risk, model risk, data risk, compliance or related domains.
- Expert knowledge of generative AI and related concepts.
- Experience with AI governance and regulatory developments related to AI.
- Understanding of risk management frameworks, control design, governance and oversight.
- The ability to identify and assess risks in complex processes and systems.
- Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- A structured, analytical and pragmatic approach.
- Curiosity and willingness to build expertise in a fast-developing field.
- A learning-oriented attitude.
